AWCape – A proud history of success

AWCape (Pty) Ltd has a proud history of success – its founder & Chief Executive Henri Hattingh opened his first Accpac (now Sage) business Applico Computer Applications in Pretoria in 1986 and has since defined the standard for service excellence for ERP, Industrial Engineering & Energy Solution consultants. Applico became best performing Accpac business partner for Transvaal in 1991 and Southern Africa in 1993.

After selling the business to QData, Henri applied his Accpac ERP and industrial engineering expertise to develop business turnaround skills, utilising Accpac ERP and Microsoft SharePoint as the main ingredient for measuring company performance. In 1997 Henri was awarded with the Business Person of the Year trophy from the Chamber of Business for turning around an ailing manufacturer to world class performer. In 2007 a Cape Town based manufacturer co-owned and managed by Henri was chosen as finalist in the Western Cape Chamber of Business Exporter of the Year competition.

henri-2Henri started AWCape during 2009 by recruiting highly experienced ERP consultants to help build a company renowned for its outstanding consulting resources and class leading Cloud solutions. This focus on quality has ensured high growth and a large number of blue chip companies on AWCape’s impressive list of customers. The company has also enlarged its African footprint, developing of a niche for Cape Town based corporates operating in Africa. The establishment of an Industrial Engineering function in 2013, staffed by highly qualified Industrial Engineers, has enhanced the value offerings to AWCape customers with resultant acceleration in growth. The group’s product offerings and services were expanded during 2017 by the addition of Sage Evolution and Sage VIP Payroll & HR products & services.

Meet the AWCape team

Cornel Smit - Managing Director

Cornel is a founding member, director and shareholder of the company. He received his BCom in Business Management from Pretoria University and started his career in mining companies in Africa sub-Sahara as a consultant implementing Accpac. Cornel’s key focus is the implementation and support of Sage 300 (Accpac) at mid- to large sized organisations and he is a specialist in AWCape Systems Audits and Procurement Workflow. He completed his 2nd Cape Epic in 2016.

Dr Khalil du Plessis - Enterprise Systems Consultant & Resource Manager

Khalil is a shareholder in AWCape and certified Sage 300, Technisoft Service Manager, Sage Manufacturing & MS Dynamics AX professional with a D.Mgmt and a Bachelor’s in Accounting. His consulting experience spans over 26 years with the last 13 years spent as an enterprise consultant engaged in designing, implementing and supporting Sage 300 for large organisations in Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, India and UAE. He has competencies in business engagement, Enterprise Systems project management and Business Process optimisation and is committed to continuous improvement through the utilisation of Enterprise Systems and the Lean philosophy.

Karen Hendrikz - Senior HR & Payroll Advisor & Trainer

Karen has an M.Com (HRM) with 20+ years’ experience in training and consulting in HR & Payroll management. A large part of this experience was gained while working for SAGE. Karen initially worked in the Payroll Consulting Department as a Payroll Consultant and then a Consulting Manager. During this time she was instrumental in implementing the consulting methodology of SAGE VIP at SAGE Micropay in Australia. Upon returning to South Africa, Karen started up the Recruitment and Payroll Outsourcing Departments for SAGE VIP in Cape Town. During the final four years of her career at SAGE VIP, Karen held the position of Cape Town Branch Manager.

Tertius Jordaan - Senior ERP Consultant

Tertius has a BCom in Accounting with many years’ experience as a certified Sage 300 Consultant. Tertius specialises in Asset Management (DBit), accounting procedures and post-implementation support. His practical experience as an accountant makes him an invaluable asset during post-implementation and year-end support. Tertius also conducts high-quality tours, has a great love for exotic destinations in Africa and his images of Africa are world-class.

Tony Lotter - ERP Consultant

Tony is a certified Sage 300 consultant with a BCom (Hons) in Banking as well as a BCom in Econometrics. After working in the banking sector in Johannesburg he joined a Cape Town based property group as Financial Manager where he honed his financial & operational skills in the Hospitality Industry, which is serving him well in his specialist role of Sage 300 Implementation & Accounting Support. Tony is also an outstanding chef who can dish up mouth-watering food.

Kaashiefa Anthony - ERP Consultant & Trainer

Kaashiefa is a certified Sage 300 Consultant and has a National Diploma in Internal Auditing. She has broad-based experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, costing and reporting and more than 10 years’ experience using Sage 300 (Accpac) in a manufacturing environment, including at Rex Trueform/Queenspark, Auto Armor, SA Fruit Exporters and Pharma Dynamics. Previous accounting experience includes Old Mutual, KFM Radio and SAMWUMED. Kaashiefa is a runner who is not scared of long distances.

Jane du Toit - ERP Consultant

Jane has a BCom in Accountancy and Financial Management and 27 years of experience running her own business as a consultant Accountant/Financial Manager providing accounting and management services, including setting up, implementation, training and support of various ERP systems across many industries, including manufacturing, technology services and brand management. Jane is consulting in both Sage Evolution and Sage 300, specializing in accounting procedures. Jane is out cycling around our beautiful coastline in the Cape most week-ends.


Industrial Engineering Team

Frans Snyders - Divisional Director Industrial Engineering

Frans is a shareholder of AWCape and has a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, specializing in mobile devices, and he is a technical expert on the deployment of Sage 300 in a hosted and large network environment. Frans is also a specialist in Business Intelligence & Business Efficiency Reporting where he designed & implemented systems for Pepkor Africa, Mooivallei Dairies, Ecowize, Vida e Caffé and Montague Fruit & Nut. He has recently also cut his teeth in Procurement Workflow. Frans can do magical things with anything technical which sounds impossible to do.

Christiaan Pretorius - BI & Systems Planning Specialist

Christiaan is a Business Intelligence specialist who develops Management Dashboards for increased business efficiency. He completed his B Eng (Industrial) from the University of Stellenbosch and is currently studying Data Science. He developed the AWCape Business Snapshot which is now being used by a number of companies including Vida e Café, Montague Fruit & Nut and other business running Point of Sales operations. Christiaan is also trained in conducting AWCape’s Business Systems Planning (BSP) methodology.

Christiaan Hattingh - Cloud Services & ERP Technical Support

Christiaan is supporting AWCape’s cloud services, which include Virtual Private Servers (VPS) and Off-site backup services. He is also a technical consultant for Sage 300 and Sage Evolution. Christiaan obtained his BEng in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University and completed the Advanced PV Design course at the Univ. of Stellenbosch.


Sales & Administration Team

Tinus Lamprecht - Business Technology Advisor

Tinus is responsible for developing new business for AWCape. He is an experienced and highly regarded person in the IT industry and strong technical skills. His B Comm (Hons) and MBA degree provides him with a solid background to understand customer needs and his previous experience as Managing Director one of South Africa’s leading IT companies should be of great benefit to prospective AWCape customers. Tinus is a connoisseur of fine wines and produces his own private label.

Subeiga Arnold - Services Administrator

Subeiga is AWCape’s Services Administrator and her responsibility includes actively managing the AWCape Customer Support System deployed on a SharePoint Intranet. Subeiga is also responsible for Training Administration and is well known for her meticulous attention to detail.

Gadija Hendricks - Financial Manager

Gadija is a shareholder and AWCape’s Financial Manager. She is responsible for all accounting and administrative matters and is especially well known and highly regarded for her meticulous attention to detail, dependability and patience in dealing with queries from both customers & suppliers. Her colleagues recognize her as possibly the best example of ‘the perfect accountant’.
